League FAQ’s

  • 1. We need to forfeit our games on a league night, how do we let people know?

If you know you will be unable to attend your scheduled league night please use the Contact Us button on the GPLVL website and someone from the board will try to update the tier in a timely manner. If you are a team and are unsure if a team is forfeiting, simply follow the GPLVL rules for the forfeiture times if no one has shown up.

  • 2. Who takes the tier bag at the end of the night?

The team that has placed 2nd in the tier will take the bag with them so they can bring it the following week when the tier plays.

  • 3. Who enters the scores for the tier at the end of the night?

  • 4. What if I wish to leave my team mid-season to play on a different team?

The team owner/captain will need to sign a release to remove you from the roster of your original team.

  • 5. What if the team I want to leave will not sign a release?

Please reach out to the board by visiting the Contact Us page

  • 6. How old do I need to be to play in the GPLVL?

Due to restrictions with the insurance policy for the league, you will need to be 18 years of age to play in the league. This age applies to all regular players and substitutes. If your team is found playing with an underage player you will be expelled from the league.

  • 7. What day of the week will I play?

The league plays on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 7-10 pm and the day you play depends on how your team placed in your tier the week before.

  • 8. Do we need to use a certain type of volleyball during games?

A certain volleyball is not required, we just ask that the ball be in good shape and appropriate for league play. Ie. No training or developmental volleyballs, no rips or obvious damage.

  • 9. Who has to set up/take down the nets?

All teams are responsible for setting up and taking down the nets. Please ensure some team members show up early enough to help with setting the nets up so the games can start promptly at 7:00 pm.

  • 10. Are we allowed music players at the games?

If the other teams do not object then music can be played during regular league play.  Please refrain from playing music with profanity or explicit lyrics.

  • 11. Can we smoke or drink on school property during league play/tournaments?

There is a ZERO tolerance policy for smoking and drinking while on the property of the gyms the league has rented. If the league is caught breaking these rules we run the risk of losing our gym spaces with the city.  If a player on your team is caught smoking or drinking on school premises WILL AUTOMATICALLY AND IMMEDIATELY BE EXPELLED FROM THE LEAGUE. If you smoke, please do so in your vehicle or off of School property. Please do not leave cigarette buts in the parking lot. Please keep them in your vehicle or in the proper disposal bin.

  • 12. When does the league run, how many nights do we get to play?

Usually late September – mid March. We have 20 weeks of league play and a year end tournament.

  • 13. What if we do not want to be in the year end tournament?

There will be an email sent out requesting signup for the tournament, no fees are returned if you do not participate in the tournament and the cost has already been taken into account with your regular league fees.

  • 14. What if the equipment at the gym isn’t in good condition?

Please submit a complaint through the Contact Us page.  Please include as much description as possible so we can get the information to the City.

  • 15. Can I bring my children to the school gyms?

At this point in time, you can bring your children to the gyms if they are old enough to stay off the courts and remain seated on the sidelines/bleachers. Children cannot be left to run in the hallways or around the gym during game play.
